I’m Angelus, a poet and interdisciplinary artist living near Joshua Tree, California. I have lived here since 2018, and shortly after arriving, I experienced a shift in consciousness that began a journey of discovering the Self.
"If the flesh came into being because of the spirit, it is a wonder.
But if spirit came into being because of the body, it is a wonder of wonders.
Indeed, I am amazed at how this great wealth has made its home in this poverty."
–The Gospel of Thomas (saying 29)
I approach poetry as a devotional inquiry into truth, memory, and the intimacy that connects us to the natural world. I love to explore grief, motherhood, transformation, and how the practical embodiment of such vast concepts becomes embodied.
I have given birth at home off-grid, grown food in the desert, raised five children, and allowed them to un-teach me much of what I thought I knew. These experiences continue to shape the integrity of my voice and my understanding of devotion, reciprocity, and inheritance.
I am currently completing my bachelor's degree in Creative Writing.
The first in my family to do so.
